With Delfoi Planner Rautaruukki Steel can increase its capacity and achieve more reliable deliveries in the field of customized products supplied directly to end users. Delfoi Planner helps to speed up the process and keep it on schedule, giving Rautaruukki higher profitability and a competitive edge over other producers.
Delfoi has supplied Rautaruukki Steel with a highly advanced web-based production scheduling system. The system has been integrated into Rautaruukki's other information systems and provides an accurate simulation and optimization of the production process. Delfoi Planner enables the ordered products to be manufactured in an optimal fashion so that the emphasis can be put on quantities, timing or individual orders. With optimization, the process can be timed correctly even if there are malfunctions in the production.
Results show that the reliability of Rautaruukki's deliveries has improved by 5-10 %, depending on the product while overall capacity has gone up by about 3 %. The company believes that together with necessary production changes, improved production scheduling can add as much as 5 % to its total capacity, and in fact, during positive market demand extra annual earnings could reach several million euros.
