Delfoi delivers robot off-line programming applications to Ponsse

Ponsse focuses on shortened lead-times and high quality

Delfoi Oy has drawn an agreement with Ponsse Oyj on the delivery of two DELMIA IGRIP robot off-line programming and simulation applications. By means of the applications, Ponsse will minimize down-time resulting from robot programming, further enhance quality and increase cooperation between design and production. An application enabling off-line programming of painting robots and analysis of paint quality is implemented in the first phase.

The paint application is used for programming two Motoman painting robots moving along a linear track. In addition to minimizing production down-time Ponsse benefits from the painting application also in that new painting program can quickly be taken into production without prototypes, as the quality of the paint is analyzed beforehand by means of the software. Spending on paint is supposed to be cut down as well, due to minimization of overspray as early as at the application design phase.

The robot painting application is provided with a Finnish user interface. When implementing the user interface, it is taken into account that Ponsse can benefit from the same functionality and ways of working in the arc welding application delivered in the second phase. This is to guarantee that, when necessary, the same robot operators can program also the arc welding robots.
